Program Installation Software – A Short Guide
Do you ever get baffled trying to install programs on your pc? Have you ever had difficulties with downloading programs from the Web? Worry no more. In this day and age, installing new programs has never been so easy. It is usually done automatically by your computer once you insert a CD, a DVD or a USB containing the program. You can even download program installation software from the internet.
Basically, installing a program simply means putting it onto a computer operating system for the purpose of using it on your computer. The installation process can vary for different programs and different computers. Therefore, many computers include a general-purpose software installation program. This program executes most of the work required to install programs.
Installer Programs: What Do They Do?
An installer, or installing program, is a specialized computer program for installing files such as drivers, applications or other software onto a pc. Installers can be specific to the files they contain. Otherwise, they can be general-purpose tools that read the contents of the software package that needs installing – and install it accordingly.
There are several types of installations. A silent installation means that no messages or windows are displayed on the screen when a program is being installed. An unattended installation (sometimes confused with the former) does not require user interaction aside from the initial launching of the process. Self installation is quite similar to unattended installation, except it does not even require the initial launch of the process. A network installation means programs can be installed from a shared network drive. Other types of installations include clean installation, virtual installation and more.
Today it is relatively easy to find automatic software installation programs which will do the work for you. You can buy reliable and efficient installers in computer stores, online stores or just download free versions or trial versions from the Web. Many installers have useful features such as the ability to check the compatibility of program requirements with the system’s specifications, set file associations and register ActiveX components. So don’t sweat it. Just use an automatic installation program and your problems will be solved.
